Free Buses from Seoul to the Jecheon Bioexpo

8 Sep

Chess Tours along with other agencies have been organizing free buses from Seoul to Kyeong ju, Pusan and Jeonju for some time now and have now put a special bus on for the Bio-expo.

The buses are leaving every day leaving from Gwangwhamun returning the same day.  However, the bookings are very flexible and you can book to come back any day you like.  I recommend this because there are lots around Jecheon to see and the English speaking information counter staff at the Bio-expo will be able to give you information about this. Please go to the official Jecheon region blog to get more information: http://jecheon.wordpress.com/

In terms of the free busses the information is either on the visitkoreayear.com web site or in the confirmation email you will receive once you book.  Here is a summary here however:

  • Buses will leave Seoul at 8:00 in the morning from Gwangwhamun (광화문) exit 6 and will arrive at the Bio-expo at approximately 10:30.
  • The returning bus will leave at 3:30 from the Expo.  It will stop off for about an hour next to the beautiful Cheongpung lake where passengers can stretch their legs.  The bus will then leave the lake at 5:00 returning to Seoul.

All information and booking forms are on the site at:

http://english.visitkoreayear.com/english/benefit/benefit_07_01_01.asp

Basically scroll down to the calendar.  Choose which day you want to go and then click on ‘Jecheon’ in the calendar where the booking form/pop up box will appear.

Please have a great time at the Bio-expo.  As the event lasts a month I would really appreciate if you could come back to this blog to leave your comments.

Just a note, the information is not that clear on the web site or on the confirmation email as to the time and place.  I have used the bus so please be assured the bus leaves at 8:00 outside Exit 6 Gwanghwamun station.  You will see the ‘VisitKoreaYear’ bus parked up there.

[...] I used the free bus services from Gwangwhamun which is run by Chess Tours.  I had written about this free service on this blog.  It was a great service, the staff although not really English speakers were polite which made the short trip that much nicer.  The bookings are going well but there are still plenty of seats so if you are in Seoul or live close then please take advantage of this free service.  It takes you straight to the Expo and then back again with a stop off at the lovely Cheongpung lake: http://bioexpo.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/free-buses-from-seoul-to-the-jecheon-bioexpo/ [...]
