Two Weeks to Go!!!
So far I have only seen the fabulous Bio-expo site on computer generated maps. However, on Friday afternoon I went down the unfinished site and was very much impressed. As the taxi rounded the corner of the huge Bio-expo valley the massive site came into sight. We drove through main gate, over the bridge of the just created artificial river with water flowing, which winds through the site.
So much is already finished and it’s quite impressive. Obviously most of the actual buildings – museums, gardens, herb fairs, children’s park, maze garden and the huge wooden viewing platform are also finished. The Oriental Medicine Bioscience Museum is completely finished and took my breath away. It’s a huge modern building with ponds and gardens framing the structure. The modern buildings seem to sit well, even though they have just been completed, in the festival environment with its temporary white pavilions and beautiful gardens. These pavilions are all scattered around the site and will house the various displays, hospitals, theatre’s, study pavilion, and restaurants.
It’s still 2 weeks away but the smell of the various gardens and herbs were already permeating the air. I had to catch the bus back to Seoul after my meeting with the organizers but I didn’t want to go. Despite the banging of construction the place was quite peaceful. I was only buoyed on by the approaching dark rain clouds.
I will be providing more information about the Bio-expo as it comes to hand including the free shuttle bus that goes past all the major terminals on the way to the site and the free bus that goes from Seoul to Jecheon. Please check back to this blog from time to time.
Thank you.
